This past weekend was Easter, the preeminent holiday of the Christian faith. The message of Easter is one of self-sacrifice and of one who gives himself so that all others might have hope.
Most people around the world believe they have an obligation to those less fortunate – that we should give in order to lift them up. There is a way we can all do just that.
Sammy Khalife is a Swift Current resident who is waiting for a heart transplant. Last week I met with him and heard of the pressing need for a larger commitment to organ donation. People across Canada are waiting to be given a new lease on life.
We can do that for them simply by agreeing, by signing our organ donor card, and committing ourselves to others even after we are gone. Life is precious from beginning to end, and we have an opportunity to give it to others.
