Father Raymond J. de Souza

Father Raymond J. de Souza serves as Editor-in-Chief of Convivium.ca, Chaplain of Newman House at Queen’s University, and as Pastor of Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in Wolfe Island, Ontario. Since 2014, he served on the Board of Directors of Catholic Christian Outreach, the leading campus evangelization movement in Canada.

Father de Souza teaches at Queen’s in the Faculty of Education and the Queen’s Economics Department. Described as “Canada’s finest Catholic commentator,” Father de Souza has been a weekly columnist for the National Post for fifteen years, and contributes a monthly column to The Catholic Register, Canada’s largest Catholic newspaper.

For nearly ten years, 2004 – 2014, Father de Souza served as the Chaplain for the Saint Thomas More Society, an unofficial association of Catholic parliamentarians in Ottawa. In 2015, he was appointed Chairman of the External Advisory Committee for the Office of Religious Freedom. In frequent contact with Canada’s Jewish community, he has served on the board of directors of the national Jewish advocacy agencies since 2005.
