Bill C-69 worst legislation passed in decades

Bill C-69 has been a disaster from the minute Justin Trudeau and Gerald Butts introduced it. Butts is long gone but the nasty influence of this bill continues. Now it has become law –the worst piece of legislation passed by Parliament in decades.

This is a bill that is going to drive wedges across this country that will rival or exceed Pierre Trudeau’s arrogant approach to the Western Canadian energy sector.

Some of us felt this bill was unsalvageable, but a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into it to try to make it remotely useful. Senators of all stripes actually worked together to amend it to meet the requests of premiers, industry, and communities across Canada. Trudeau has now rejected that work, and he has gone beyond that.

When 6 premiers challenged Justin Trudeau to consider the negative impact this bill will have, he accused them of creating a national unity crisis and then his gutless Liberals refused to even allow Opposition members to debate the suggested changes.

He is going to destroy this country – it’s time Canadians started paying attention (to legislation that is going to mean the end of private resource projects in Western Canada).
