February 20, 2009 –David Anderson, Member of Parliament for Cypress Hills – Grasslands today announced federal government funding for community projects in the riding. Together with provincial and municipal governments, the Government of Canada is investing more than $6.7 million in Cypress Hills – Grasslands.
“The projects that we are announcing today are integral parts of maintaining our communities. I am pleased to see the Government of Canada working to support Cypress Hills – Grasslands,” stated Anderson.
A significant portion of the funding is being directed to water treatment plants and infrastructure. The community of Burstall will be receiving more than $1.7 million for a new water treatment plant. Chaplin and Herbert will also be receiving $1.5 and $1.3 million respectively for their own water infrastructure projects. Other communities receiving funding for similar projects are Morse and Gull Lake.
Anderson continued, “In Southwestern Saskatchewan water is important. By investing in our communities the Conservative Government is once again showing its support for rural Saskatchewan.”
The announcement also included projects in Miry Creek and Willow Bunch. “These two rural municipalities will be receiving over $750,000 to fund local road repairs and construction,” Anderson explained. “By working with our provincial and municipal government partners, the Conservative Government is creating jobs and building a bright future for Canada.”
The funding projects are supported through the Creating Jobs – Building Canada Fund. This announcement is part of a major series of announcements across the province in conjunction with Infrastructure and Communities Canada, and provincial and municipal governments.
