Colin Mayes, Member of Parliament for Okanagan – Shuswap will be hosting the 4th Annual Parliamentary Forum on Religious Freedom on May 26, 2014. While the three previous Forums examined various challenges facing religious freedom around the world, this year’s ill be looking at religious freedom here in Canada. Canada is a strong supporter of religious freedom as a fundamental human right, and this Forum will provide an opportunity for open discussion on this important issue.
The Forum will feature experts on a number of key issues, including: The History of Religious Freedom in Canada; Current Challenges Facing Religious Freedom in Canada; and, Responding to Religious Intolerance in Canada. Speakers include Natasha Bakht, Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa, Dr. Janet Epp Buckingham, Associate Professor at Trinity Western University, Dr. James Wallace, Lecturer in International Relations at Boston University, and Don Hutchinson, former Vice President of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.

This year’s 4th Annual Parliamentary Forum on Religious Freedom will be held at Library and Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street, on May 26, 2014, 7:00 pm. Free parking is available after 5:00 pm at the parking lot just north of Lyon and Wellington (directly east of the Library and Archives Canada building.
