3rd Parliamentary Forum on Religious Freedom

Announcement - large - 3rdHosted by David Anderson, MP for Cypress Hills – Grasslands, the third Parliamentary Forum on Religious Freedom focused on “Sharia Courts and the Implications”. Dr. Tanya Walker explored the underlying assumptions behind suggestions that Sharia law should be integrated into western societies.  Her PhD research focused on the Sharia councils in the UK and included extensive fieldwork observing cases and interviewing women who brought their disputes to Britain’s Sharia councils.  As a result, her advice has been sought by politicians considering these issues within the British context, as well as by practitioners in the field of women’s rights.

Dr. Andy Bannister, the Canadian Director of Ravi Zacharias International Ministries also spoke and assisted MP David Anderson in facilitating the ensuing discussion.
