Despite freedoms Christians in Indonesia have an uphill battle
The Indonesian constitution and the country’s philosophy of Pancasila, the government’s policy of encouraging unity and social justice for all of Indonesia’s peoples, allows for a large degree of religious freedom. However, that is not always realized on the ground.
Christians struggle to worship in some areas of Indonesia - Muslims in a village in northeastern Indonesia’s portion of Borneo Island worked actively to stop local Christians who were attempting to build a church.
