Anderson asks PM Justin Trudeau to remove convicted child murderer Terri-Lynne McClintic from the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge

Ottawa, ON – Today, David Anderson, MP for Cypress Hills-Grasslands asked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to reverse the decision on the transfer of Terri-Lynne McClintic to the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge minimum security facility in Maple Creek, SK.

McClintic was convicted of murder in the kidnapping, rape, and torture of eight-year-old Tori Stafford in Woodstock, Ontario in 2009. During Question Period, Anderson said:

“Mr. Speaker, McClintic admitted to kidnapping eight-year-old Tori so she could be raped, tortured, murdered and buried in a field. There is no more disgusting crime a person can commit. The Liberals are now defending her transfer from a prison in Ontario straight to the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge in my riding. This is a facility that does not even have a fence around it. It is not intended for child murderers. As a matter of fact, there are often children in the facility. The Prime Minister has the power to reverse this decision today. Will he do that?”

In his response, Justin Trudeau declined to act. Public Safety Minister and Regina MP Ralph Goodale said the Government will review the process, after earlier referring to the brutal murder as McClintic’s “bad practices.”

The Conservative Party stands for the rights of victims, not criminals. This decision should be reversed immediately.
