Statement - Anderson Asks Dwain Lingenfelter for Clarification Does he or does he not support marketing freedom?
June 16, 2011

Ottawa, ON - David Anderson, MP Cypress Hills-Grasslands and Parliamentary Secretary for The Canadian Wheat Board, today challenged Saskatchewan NDP Leader Dwain Lingenfelter on his position regarding the Canadian Wheat Board.

“When Mr. Lingenfelter was in the private sector he was one of the
strongest proponents of free choice in the marketing of Western Canadian grain. I had several conversations with him regarding this issue and there was no indication that he wanted anything other than marketing freedom,” said Anderson.

“It’s my understanding that Mr. Lingenfelter is an organic farmer. He expressed his desire to be free from the constraints of the CWB. His commitment to marketing freedom was mentioned to me during several discussions we had on the subject.

I challenge him to clarify his position now. Does he believe in marketing freedom as he did in the past or has he taken a position to oppose freedom of marketing choice after being such a strong advocate for it?”
